As the due date started getting closer, we all realized we had to really pick up the pace if we were going to fill out all the walls. Then when Ev went into the hospital, we realized the pace really needed to be picked up. Claire and Janet pitched in with a will, and in a matter of a few days amazing things started appearing on the walls. Around 3/29 or so we pronounced the mural done. Here are some photos of the final product.

Claire provided a tiered castle which can double as a ruler for measuring Carolyn as she grows (each level is about six inches). Also there are some really cool winged horses in the sky. Girls like that kind of thing. Claire started Wonderland on the ground with the mushrooms, one of which features a friendly caterpillar. In the home stretch, Janet threw on piles of other characters from Wonderland: the white rabbit, the walrus and the carpenter, playing card men, chess pieces, etc. I came home one day and they were there: for me, it was totally effortless.

A closer look at the inhabitants of Wonderland.

And again, a better look at the card men and the walrus and the carpenter.

Here we see a long shot of most of Fairytale Land. There are so many things going on here, including the three little pigs' houses, Jack and the Beanstalk, the hill that Jack and Jill went up, Humpty Dumpty, the three billy goats gruff, and Snow White's pumpkin carriage. To the far left on the other wall you can just make out Claire's castle.

Another look at part of Fairytale Land. Notice the swans on the lake, a reference to the ugly duckling.
